#7 Traffic Jam

Today’s message is a nice thought I had recently; I felt people would appreciate it. Here goes!
I was driving home from work one day, and traffic was at a standstill (as usual!) The road I was driving on had two- lanes in each direction; I was in the right lane. Because the left lane had less traffic, many cars switched from the right lane and went to the left lane. I watched all those cars in the left lane pass me by, leaving me way behind, but I wasn’t frustrated. I was in the right lane because I knew that at the end of this road was the turn-off for my house, and I needed to be in the right lane so that I could make the right turn. I thought to myself, “Right now, I have to be in the right lane. Even though it looks like the left lane is much better, getting in the left lane won’t get me to my destination. The people in the left lane obviously don’t need to make a right turn at the end of this road.”
And then I started thinking, “You know, this is exactly like being in shidduchim for a while. I’m in the “right lane,” stuck, and so many people have already passed me by, it feels like they’re miles ahead me. But you know, who put me in this right lane? Hashem! And he didn’t randomly put me here. It’s for a purpose! Obviously, for right now, my destination is a different destination than the people in the left lane. So, it’s ridiculous to look at others who are ahead of me and wish to be where they are. I right now need to be in the right lane!”
And this thought really changed the way I view my struggle. And really, it’s the absolute truth.
Because the typical way Hashem made things is that you get married relatively quickly and start building a family. But if it hasn’t happened yet, then He obviously knows that for right now, this is not what’s best for you. You need the “traffic!” Maybe as a result of your struggle, in a few years from now, you’ll be able to help others who are struggling, or at least you’ll understand their pain and be more sensitive to it!
So don’t be upset by the “traffic jam.” It was all calculated by the one above!
