#19- The Email Mix-Up

Hashem runs every detail of our lives with such Hashgacha Pratis. Specifically, with shidduchim, it becomes even more apparent. The following true story, which took place a few months ago, was told by Rabbi Binyomin Pruzansky.

A shadchan thought of a shidduch for Mrs. Friedman’s* son. She called up Mrs. Friedman & asked for her email address so she could send over the girl’s resume.

“Well,” replied Mrs. Friedman, “I don’t have an email address.” “How then should I send you the resume?” asked the shadchan. One of Mrs. Friedman’s children overheard the conversation & said, “Don’t worry, ma! I’ll make you an email address!”

Mrs. Friedman’s son made an email account for his mother. His mother’s name was Esti. When he was done, he told his mother, “Oh, by the way, Estifriedman@gmail.com was taken, so instead, I did Estifriedman8@gmail.com. Mrs. Friedman thanked her son, & gave the information over to the shadchan.

A few days later, the shadchan called Mrs. Friedman to follow up. “I never got the girl's resume!” said Mrs. Friedman, surprised. “I sent it! Estifriedman@gmail.com!” “No, that’s not my email! My email is Estifriedman8@gmail.com.”

“Oh! I’m Sorry! Ok, I’ll send it again!”

Shortly thereafter, the shadchan got an email from estifriedman@gmail.com, which read the following. “I know you didn’t mean to send me this resume, but if it doesn’t work out for the original person, I might have an idea. I think my brother-in-law would be perfect for this girl!”

Meanwhile, after the first Mrs. Friedman got the resume, she looked into this girl & didn’t think it would be a good fit for her son.

So the shadchan sent this girl’s resume to the other Mrs. Friedman, the one who had thought of her brother-in-law as a potential shidduch.

Remarkably, a month later, this couple got engaged!!

Seemed like it was the wrong email address, but in reality, there was no mistake!

When we hear of such stories, it should strengthen our Emunah & remind us that Hashem knows a person’s address, Hashem knows how to find each person, and Hashem knows how to bring about what’s best for him/her at the right time.

We must always trust Him, & never despair!
